Neighbor Ride | serving the transportation needs of seniors in Howard County

I'm hoping you can help me spread the word about a local nonprofit's critical need for additional volunteers...

Neighbor Ride, a nonprofit, volunteer-based organization serving the transportation needs of seniors in Howard County is experiencing an unprecedented surge in demand. Last October for instance, Neighbor Ride provided just under 600 trips for seniors' medical appointments, social outings, religious services, shopping trips, fitness activities, classes and other day-to-day needs. This month there are nearly 900 trips scheduled to date, making it likely that our 2010 October total will climb to over 1,000. To reliably accomodate the sharply growing demand additional volunteer drivers are needed. Volunteering as a Neighbor Ride driver is an amazingly simply way to make a huge difference in the lives of local seniors. Volunteers are asked to commit to providing just two rides per month; and can choose trips that are convenient to their homes and daily routines. Parents are welcome to bring their children along when volunteering for a wonderful intergenerational experience. Folks interested in volunteering can contact Colleen Kontanzer or Rosemary Noble at 410-884-7433 or volunteer@neighborride.org.

All my best,
Colleen Konstanzer
