Vote on the future of Rash Field

PLEASE NOTE that you can vote for B and still also vote for connector bridge pictured in only C.

As you may have seen in the press recently, the Greater Baltimore Committee (GBC), has created a survey on their website with 3 new plans for Rash Field.  Currently 60% of the votes have gone towards a design that does NOT incorporate Beach Volleyball.  This is likely because it is the ONLY design that shows a dramatic new bridge for pedestrians spanning the harbor.

The survey created a difficult position for us.  None of the designs include an expanded volleyball venue which we've asked for.  Unfortunately, there isn't a "none of the above" option.  So after much deliberation we'd like to ask you to vote for Option B the "Federal Hill Connector"  and please add your comments, such as:

  • Volleyball is currently the only activity that brings life and vibrancy to the park on a daily basis
  • Each volleyball court only takes 1% of any new park design we're requesting 15% total
  • Beach volleyball provides more physical activity per square foot than most other sports
  • Our sand courts are designed to be a biofilter and part of the Healthy Harbor Initiative
  • Players show up weekly with flip-flops and credit cards (going out afterwards which has a positive economic impact)

Please feel free to elaborate, the bottom line is that if you care about this amazing community/venue, that you've created, your voice needs to be heard, and heard now.

There are 600 votes in so far, and 1,500 of us play at the beach every week.  Unlike other surveys created to date this one matters because it's directed at the decision makers themselves.   If you can forward this to other people who believe sports aren't just for watching... that would be a bonus!

If we work together, I believe we can change the outcome. Click here to vote on your favorite design concept for Rash Field. or if that doesn't work a link to the survey is located here www.gbc.org
